PM must be careful of sharing govt with NA

Source: The National,

WHAT has happened to the Grand Chief with the sudden change of heart to form a coalition government with Peter O’Neill?
I am sure that is the question every citizen is pondering over now.
Sometimes, principles are chosen without determining their ultimate value, believing that such determination is impossible.
Such philosophy usually equates with satisfaction in life with prudence, pleasure or power.
But it is basically derived from the ethical doctrine of natural human fulfillment as the ultimate good.
A person who lacks motivation to exercise preference may be resigned to accept all customs and, therefore, may develop a philosophy of prudence.
He/she then lives in conformity with the moral conduct of the period and society.
O’Neill has fallen prey to this philosophy on the numbers game with his determination to form a government and to continue his supremacy, which he has proven in a short space of time.
Hedonism is the philosophy which teaches that the highest good is pleasure.
O’Neill now enjoys the pleasures and comforts of the political masters, whom I suppose are there to contribute to turn the current state of affairs of our nation.
A philosophy in which the highest attainment is power may result from competition.
Because each victory tends to raise the level of competition, the logical would be unlimited or absolute power.
Power-seekers may not accept customary ethical rules but may conform to other rules that can help them become successful.
They may seek to persuade others and mask their motives in order to gain the ordinary rewards of morality.
However, O’Neill must be cautious as these political masters are experienced and learned strategists who are capable of “pulling strings” to make things happen their way.
