Fighting erupted in Magarima in the Hela Province Sunday afternoon but was quickly quelled by police this morning.
This follows tensions in the area from fighting that spilled over as a result of last month’s killing of a man and his son in retaliation after another man was chopped to pieces.
Hela police commander Mark Yangen says that the fight took place following tensions in the area related to land disputes that go back over a decade.
The initial murder in the current troubles took place on Monday the 19th January which then led to his relatives retaliating and killing a man and his 13 year old son who were part of the disputing clan.
Police continue to speak with the community in an effort to get them to stop fighting as well as broker a peace deal between the two disputing clans.
Yangen said that as of this afternoon fighting had halted while police go about trying to speak with the different
