A man has died at the Vanimo General Hospital where he was hospitalized after being shot by the brother of the Opposition Leader, Belden Namah.
The man from Ainba Village was shot on the thigh by Cain Namah at Bewani following an argument over an ongoing land dispute.
The victim succumbed to the gunshot wounds yesterday.
This has prompted calls from the father of the dead man to arrest and charge Cain Namah.
The victim's father says police should act fast in arresting and charging the suspect as there are rumours that he is intending to fly out from Vanimo to Port Moresby to avoid arrest.
But, acting Vanimo Police Station Commander, Robert Nalaik, when confirming the shooting incident at Bewani said, the suspect has voluntarily handed himself to police today.
Chief Sergeant Nalaik says Namah has wounded himself while in the process of getting the weapon unloaded at the station.
He'll be flown to Port Moresby tomorrow for further medical attention.
