Agiru confident of delivering services to Hela people

By JOHN PANGKATANA
HELA Governor-elect Anderson Pawa Agiru has given his assurance that the province’s three Open MPs are committed to working together to take their resource rich province forward.
Mr Agiru gave his assurance during a dedication service by the Hela council of churches infront of the new Hela Provincial Administration building in Tari yesterday.
Mr Agiru told a large crowd that attended the combined service that despite mounting political differnces, they are joined at the hip in providing quality leadership.
In absence of Tari Pori MP and Finance Minister James Marape and Komo Margarima MP Francis Potape, Mr Agiru said to build Hela they will need more than concrete.
“We need strong characters among us four leaders. And I believe we have the experience even more so now with our Tari Pori MP holding a
senior ministerial portfolio,” he said.
Mr Agiru also made reference to vibrant young Koroba-Lake Kopiago MP Philip Undialu who was the only Open MP present.
He further made the point that by working together, Hela can stand together on its feet to achieve its goals. “Divided, we will not make it work,” he added.
He highlighted the fact that unlike the overly healthy balanced books he left the Southern Highlands administration with - in Hela, he is starting at zero balance.
“It is time for people to change their attitudes and must learn to respect each other if we are to go forward - especially with the LNG project on our door step,” he added.
Meanwhile Mr Undialu backed the Governor by agreeing that it was the team to redirect the course of Hela.
“We now have no reason to sit back. With transperancy and accountability levelled with the vast experience of our Governor, I am looking forward to giving our people what the justly deserve,” he said.
Acting Hela Provincial Administrator William Bando said he envisaged positive times ahead and forsees that Hela will not be that ‘back page’ anymore but the front.
