VILLAGE court officials from a remote area in the Highlands region have welcomed road maintenance work in their area.
The Village court
Officials of Ukuni One in the Baiyer District of Western Highlands
Province, said this week that the maintenance has allowed road access
into their area and police are now able travel into their area and make
arrests, making their work more effective.
Ukuni One Village Court
chairman Johnny Komon said their village court had issued many warrants
of arrest to offenders, but lack of police in the community has made it
hard for these offenders to be arrested and sent to jail for their
crimes.
Mr Komon said that norm
in the Ukuni One area changed last month when police vehicles were seen
regularly as they were looking for suspects and making arrests.
“We the village court officials are very
proud as the presence of police making arrests in our area has made our
work more effective and efficient,” Komon said.
