Hela Igini
I RECENTLY flew over my beloved Hela land and had a
bird’s eye view of this area.
I have lived, worked and traversed the Hela landscape very well so I am qualified to make such observations. I am thrilled with joy about the gravity of the physical development of Hela. The gravity of road infrstructure development has taken high speed from Ambua lodge to Tani valley with a by-pass road from Pai village to Habare SDA mission. This by-pass road is cleverly designed that will allow Tari township to expand and develop in the future as well as noise, dust, pollution and social benefits to the town residents.
Than we see a new thriving road infrstructure being constructed starting at Alfred Kaiabe’s Wabia village, meandering inland to Hulia. It will eventually link Hokombe, Awatangi, Koare, Yarale, Beneria and perhaps to Homa/Paua in the Moran/Kutubu oil fields.

This is the start of the road infrastructure that the Hela people have been
crying for over the decades as they have cried for an alternate road network to
the current road that runs through Nipa and Magarima districts.
Apart from this notable public road infrstructures, the private devemopments are taking place at Para (Hides 4) and Komo airport which have added colour and beauty to Hela’s development springboards.
We all agree these developments are triggered off by the massive PNG LNG project. We also agree these massive developments are triggered off by the leadership because leadership and development are intertwined and complimentary.

But there’s more far outstanding leadership that stands to gain wider milleage
for Hela’s development and this is in its own favourite son, Anderson Agiru.
The PNG LNG project was triggered by his signature. He signed as a political head and as a principal landowner.
He killed many birds with one-stone. Critics may say the PNG LNG deal is not a good deal but as far as I am concerned, it is one of the finest deals carved out by Governor Agiru.
