Market regime warns opportunists

BY PEARSON KOLO

THE Mt Hagen market management has warned opportunists in the city to stay out of the market as laws regulating the market are in place.
People or groups of people caught instigating disturbances, pick pocketing or snatching bags and other personal items will be arrested and charged under these laws.
The market public relations officer Kwip Koropa said this while revealing drastic changes in business in the market over the last seven to eight weeks.
Mr Koropa said the enforcement of the market regulation by the police after they were appointed by Deputy Governor Wai Rapa was very effective.
“Business in the market is improving every day and the market, as a place for doing business in Western Highland Province, is also improving its operations,” Mr Koropa said.
Mr Koropa said there is a confusion on authorities like the LLGs but maintained they will operate as the government recognises them.
“Political issues will not interfere with the operation of the premier vegetable market in the country as it benefits the entire province and other neighboring provinces as well,” Mr Koropa said.
He thanked the Mt Hagen police for providing security in the market and the administration of Deputy Governor and caretaker president of Hagen Urban LLG.
