A visit by the Technical Working Team on District Development Authority to Ialibu-Pangia District on March 18th found that the district has the capacity to drive the DDA concept.
This was made known after the team visited the district at the invitation of the Ialibu-Pangia District Administrator Ron Yamuna.
In a meeting after arriving in the district, the team heard from the administrator that the district already had various government sectors like Education, Health, Works, Police, Commerce, and Forestry, Community Development and Agriculture and about 300 public servants working in the district.
Secretary for Department of Provincial and Local Government Affairs Mr Munare Uyassi responded to Mr Yamuna’s briefing saying the district already had the various government sectors needed to drive the DDA.
He said what the government would like to see is all the sectors working together to delivery services in the districts.
“All the necessary government facilities, staffing and various government sectors are here,” Mr Uyassi said.
“We would like to see all those sectors take the whole of government approach, working together to build the district under the direction of the District Administrator as the chief executive officer of the DDA.”
Ialibu-Pangia District Administrator Yamuna revealed that the District Administration has road works, schools infrastructure development and a water project currently going on and believe that the introduction of the DDA will help a lot in ensuring the projects are completed.
Responding to questions asked by the team, Mr Yamuna said the district administration had the capacity to make the DDA work.
Mr. Yamuna said that they had the leadership and political will and were looking forward to making the DDA work for the benefit of the people of Ialibu-Pangia.
