Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was in his
Ialibu-Pangia District over the weekend to check on the projects that are
currently underway.
These projects included the state-of-the-art market, courthouse building, district office and a clinic in Pangia.
He also visited the Pangia Community College and was impressed with what he saw.
“I am here to obtain updates on the progress of the roads that are being sealed throughout my district,” Mr O’Neill said. He said despite the road works being quite slow, he was pleased with the quality of the projects.
Mr O’Neill toured the market and said he was impressed with the progress.
“The Pangia market is very well done and I look forward to building a similar type in the Ialibu station,” he said.
During a tour through the Pangia High School, he noted the need to improve the dining facility, classrooms and staff housing.
“The cases of these institutions are all the same, where lack of proper staff housing has caused staff to leave for other jobs elsewhere,” the Prime Minister said.
Mr O’Neill will return to the electorate tomorrow to witness the swearing-in of the newly-elected LLG presidents and ward councillors. He will also address the people of Ialibu-Pangia and meet with community leaders to address issues they are faced with.
