Minister Marape outlined a K33 million development plan for Tari-Pori last week for 2013; half of the budget allocation was directed on infrastructure and services provision in the district.
K14 million was allocated for road infrastructure and power supply while new Tari District headquarters building was allocated K7 million.
Education, Health, Youth and Churches were also given a priority funding while he allocated funding to pay school fees for Tari-Pori students in Tertiary institutions.
Minister Marape gave hope to small entrepreneurs in the district by allocating K1. 65 million for village based economic where those who have small establishments could apply for the funds. Mr Marape has deposited K300,000 with National Development Bank for people to apply for funds to do business and agriculture work in the district.
Ms Jenny Mandika owner of J & J Enterprises Ltd on behalf of the people of Tari-Pori thanked Minister Marape for being the first MP in the district to initiate such important development.
She said it’s first of its kind to see tangible development about to get underway which had been lacking for the last 20 years.
She said Minister Marape has vibrant leadership qualities which are displayed at the national and local level, also through distribution of development and allocations despite politics.
“Small business people thank Marape for allocating funds for village based economy which is welcome news for people like me to gain economic independence,” Ms Mandika said.
She said though multi-billion kina PNG LNG and Hydro carbon industry taking shape in Hela, Tari-Pori district is a backdrop in development as we do not benefit from development funds.
Mandika said Tari-Pori people did not mistake to vote for Marape into National Parliament, it was God’s will that he choose Marape to be our leader who would become servant of his people.
“Now the mandate we gave him has been returned by progressive development initiatives that Minister Marape has undertaken. Ms Mandika said Marape has delivered to the people of
Hela for the last five years and during his term as Hela Transitional Authority Chairman and we belief in him that he will deliver. “I hail Minister Marape for his good work and encourage him to continue as people of Tari-Pori will be behind you and the good Lord will always lead your path,” Ms Mandika said.
