Police consider going electronic after record books go missing

By ROSALYN ALBANIEL-EVARA

THREE important record books belonging to police in Madang have reportedly gone missing from the Jomba Police Station.

The incident has brought to the fore the need for the police to consider going electronic rather than having their records being done manually to safeguard them in future.
Speaking during a press conference Tuesday , Madang Provincial Police Commander Anthony Wagambie (Jnr) said the incident had happened over a week ago and between the early hours of 5-5:30am.

He said at the time the incident happened that there were two police officers who were on duty when the Police cell registry, Occurrence Book and Charge Book went missing from the duty counter.

He said he was notified of the incident at 7am the following morning.
He said police investigations had already commenced into this matter adding that the two police officers had already been questioned.
Supt Wagambie said what happened was a disgrace and that police would be working to get to the bottom of the matter.
What happened cannot be tolerated. People cant steal from the station. Why this happened is something unbecoming.
