Kumuk bridge reopened

By Mal Taime
THE Jiwaka Provincial Government officially opened a re-construction bridge at Warakar, North Wahgi district last weekend.
Governor Dr William Tongamp opened the Kumuk Bridge on Saturday for the people to access.
Since the bridge was washed away it affected the entire Kombulno people, but fortunately it was reconstructed within less than three months.
Prominent Kombulno leader and lawyer Bosip Aipe with the people took the initiative to contribute enormously to reconstruct the washed out bridge that attracted the Provincial Government to intervene and assist them.
Delegates that presented at the occasion were former premier Philip Kapal, Councillor Peter Ark, Provincial Administrator Michael Wandil, Chris Kaman and Nondugl Council President Opai Kunangil.
The 4000 people were happy last weekend when their only bridge was re-opened last weekend, because it took only a limited time to be rebuilt.
This proves to them that Governor Dr Tongamp has a heart for them and intervened to bail them.
While the young boys gave hands helped the contractor to make sure work completed on time.
With the involvement of the Jiwaka Provincial Government shows to the people that the Government wants to work with the people either in small or big ways.
Mr Aipe said since the bridge was washed away it affected the people which they felt the pinch of it but fortunately the Jiwaka Provincial Government relieved them and thanked Dr Tongamp for the initiative.
He also thanked his people for taking the lead in contributing and urged them not to wait for the Government to come and do something for them but they must do to get the attraction of the Government.
Mr Aipe also asked North Wahgi MP Dr Fabian Pok to assist them with the Koskal Bridge that was also washed away.
Governor Tongamp committed them to rebuild the washed out Koskal Bridge and assured them that work would complete before end of this year.
Dr Tongamp also made a commitment of two ambulances for Fatima sub health centre with another health centre.
