PATIENTS at remote Jimi District in Jiwaka Province
will no longer bring blankets along with them when they admit at various
health centres in the district.
Molka Lodge near Minj in South Wahgi District of the
province recently purchased new blankets for all health centres and sub
health centres.
Lodge managing director, Gibson Yuants, handed the
blankets to health officials who attended a week long micro planning
workshop on measles, rubella and inactivated polio vaccines to
distribute to all health centres and sub health centres in Jimi.
A total of 64 health officials attended the workshop
and attained certificate supported by United Nations Children Fund
(UNCEF) two weeks ago.
The fund supported eight provinces including Eastern
Highlands, Chimbu, Western Highlands, Jiwaka, Madang, Western, West
Sepik and Gulf.
While the National Department of Health is supporting other provinces.
Mr Yuants, before handing over the blankets said
patients from remote areas were really suffering and they need help from
those in urban areas.
The blankets will be distributed to Tabibuga Health Centre, Kol
Health Centre, Koinambe Health Centre, Kumbants sub health centre, as
well as Waramants sub health centre, Olna sub health centre, Togban sub
health, Tsendiap sub health centre and Ambulua sub health centre, all in
Jiwaka Province.
