The Tari Pori area has quietened down since late Friday after fighting broke out on Thursday night.
The fight was sparked by the killing of an elder in the area by warring clans .
Two men according to police chopped up a man in retaliation for a murder that took place late last year.
Hela police commander Mark Yangen tells PNG Loop that the area has been tense as there are four fights taking place around there.
Yangen says that another fight between the clans of Tapajah and Erebe is also going through negotiations.
Now more than ever, PPC Yangen is appealing to members of the community to come together and broker a peace deal to maintain the calm.
Police report that tensions in the area have been high since the major tribal conflict in the area between the two clans that started around November last year.
So far there have been 12 deaths with many serious injuries reported in an area that is very volatile.
