Police in Hela are on alert following the emergence of a group of robbers that have been going around the Highlands (Okuk) Highway holding up vehicles and their passengers.
Hela police commander Mark Yangen says that the recent case was last Thursday.
However PPC Yangen says that he has assigned a team to look into the robbery cases along the highway.
Yangen has put out an alert to all PMV owners as well as private vehicles to refrain from travelling at odd hours in order to avoid opportunists like the men who robbed the PMV on Thursday morning.
The attack took place at about half past six in the morning at Mt Ambua.
Armed with 2 high powered firearms, the group estimated to number about 6, made off with K5,000 in cash along with other valuable items from the passengers.
Yangen says that today, his officers have been assigned to look into leads in this case while also to speak with communities along the highway to foster support with the aim of bringing in these men.
This is the second robbery in the past month while it is the sixth since the start of the year along this stretch of road.
