Wingti Backs Gov

Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti said stability was needed for the current Government to implement its major project development plans.
He said it would not make sense when “inexperienced politicians” started making noise against a leadership that was delivering much desired goods and services, particularly in terms of infrastructure development and government services to the people.

“What we need in the Government is stability. It’s not good to criticize a government that is delivering much needed services and development,” he said.

Speaking to more than 1000 people from Western Highlands and Enga provinces at a Haus Karai (funeral house) of Mt Hagen businessman Bepi Bora Pamada at Palimb village, the three times prime minister said some of the potential prime ministers like Enga Governor Peter Ipatas and others were backing the Government because it was doing well to serve the people.

Wingti said major road maintenance and constructions including the Highlands Highway, the proposed Highlands to Southern region road, Highlands to Madang Highway, redevelopment of Jacksons and Kagamuga airports, rebuilding of WHP headquarter building, expansion of Lae wharf and city road network, allocation of K15 million each to the districts (under the district services improvement program), proposed development of a Supreme Court building in Mt Hagen and the reopening of Aropa airport on Bougainville were among major achievements and plans of the government that thinking Papua New Guineans were required to appreciate.

“It requires strong leadership and stability to ensure such achievements and implementation of major development plans. Therefore, we are  backing this government with our experience and skills for the good of the people of this nation,” he said.

Wingti said the political parties in the government would ensure that the O’Neill-Dion Government continued to be in power to deliver its plans right through to 2017 elections.
