CHIMBU police have set up special operations aimed at combating the escalating marijuana problem in the province. Acting on tip-offs, police conduct raids in villages known for cultivating marijuana and over the last couple of months have uprooted thousands of cannabis plants in some of the rugged rural parts of the province. Here in this picture, the province’s police drug squad are displaying uprooted marijuana plants at Mandime village in remote Gembolg District on the foot of PNG’s highest peak, Mt Whilelm.
