CHUAVE MP and vice minister for Mining, Wera Mori, said he has already undertaken some developments in his rocky electorate.
At the top of his priority list are health, education and roads or public works. He said roads are currently being upgraded.
“As I speak now, you can drive in a sedan from Chuave to Fomu. You can drive in a 25-seater bus from Chuave to Karaweri, which was never done in the past,” he said.
He said in the last four months he had initiated a lot of projects, adding that he is trying to change the face of Chuave during his tenure in office.
The MP said more funding will be diverted into the districts, and funds will be parked at the Department of Works in Kundiawa to constantly maintain the roads in his district.
“That will materialise in two months time,” he said.
Mr Mori said he wanted a permanent presence of the Department of Works in his outlying district so that feeder and rural roads are regularly maintained to usable standards. He said good roads will enable his people to access basic government services.
In health, he has engaged the services of a company owned by Dr Kristofer Ninkama, to provide medical services to the people. Dr Ninkama is an Australian certified doctor. His firm Pacific Medical Supplies and Paramedical Services will provide quality healthcare to the Chuave people, who deserved better health services.
The first-term MP has also prioritised education by subsidizing school fees.
“We cannot talk about development if we don’t have a healthy population. We cannot talk about development when we do not have roads, and we cannot talk about development when we do not have an educated population,” he said, adding these are essential services.
