"... MY OWN PEOPLE DO NOT LISTEN AND DO THINGS THE RIGHT WAYS.”

EAST Sepik Governor Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare says his provincial government will next week consider a petition calling for the eviction of settlers.
Sir Michael gave the assurance to relatives of a security guard killed at the Telikom Exchange depot early last Saturday.
The relatives presented a petition seeking the eviction of settlers from the Bronx compound.
... Sir Michael said the provincial executive council would deliberate on their petition next week.

He had personally received the petition from the relatives on Wednesday afternoon and said while he agreed with their petition for eviction of the settlers, proper procedures and process must be maintained.
“Let me assure you that the provincial executive council will meet next week and issue the eviction order for all settlers because for far too long now, you, the very people who vote me to power, are causing so much problems in town.
“And I am very ashamed of this,” Sir Michael said.
“I have stayed many years in parliament and when I tell people to change, those in other provinces adhere to my words.
“But when I return to my very own province, I am very sad to say that we have not changed our behaviour and ways of doing things.
“I did everything for this country. I wrote the constitution and said things and people listen and follow but I am very ashamed because you, my own people, do not listen and do things the right way.”
