Mr Kanawi Pouru has been re-instated as the Managing Director of the National Forest Service (NFS) after being suspended six months ago by the previous O’Neill-Namah government.
His re-instatement follows a decision made by the National Executive
Council (NEC) at its meeting on 15th August 2012 to uplift
the suspension and rescinded all the decisions made by the previous
government which resulted in the suspension.
Mr Pouru’s reinstatement was announced by the Minister for Forest and Climate Change Hon. Patrick Pruaitch in a letter dated 29th August, 2012 to staff of the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority and forest industry participants.
The Minister also thanked Mr Goodwill Amos who has been the NFS Acting Director since his appointment on 5th March, 2012 after Mr Pouru was suspended.
The Minister also called on all the stakeholders to put aside any differences they might have and work together now that Mr Pouru has been re-instated.
Mr Pouru resumed duties on August 31st, 2012, two weeks after the NEC uplifted his suspension, and after all necessary instructions were put in order.
