Lae residents angry over state of roads

On the outskirts of Papua New Guinea’s second largest city, a combination of ten years of neglect and unpredictable weather have caused the slow and steady   deterioration of    crucial road sections.
Bus drivers   refuse to carry passengers on these roads.  It’s uncomfortable and the wear and tear on their vehicles is an added burden.   They charge three times the legal bus fare.
Lae’s petty criminals prey on residents that return home in the afternoon from work, school, or other daily activities.
A large portion of Lae’s estimated 500 thousand people live here and there is a great deal of anger over what they see as government neglect for over a decade.
