Landowners not happy with MP

LANDOWNERS in the Kairuku Hiri LNG corridor are not happy with the way their Member of Parliament is treating their LNG funds in which they claim entitlement to.
Principal Muna’a landowner and chairman Hennie Hickey Ikupu said they welcome Mr Aihi’s response in last week’s Post-Courier to clarify the LNG funds.
Mr Ikupu said the reason for him to come to the media is that they have to show to the people of Kairuku-Hiri that the MP has failed to neither meet nor response to the plight of the Muna’a Vaivai Incorporate Land Group (ILG), the impact and affected LNG pipeline corridor in Cape Suckling Kairuku District Central Province.
Mr Ikupu said in a statement that the failure to release the LNG funds resulted in impediments to development in the electorate.
He said the Muna’a Vaivai have taken a bold step to challenge for their rightful claims on development benefits of the LNG pipeline on the sea and the land to compensate the rightful landowners for the construction phase that will have environmental damages in the LNG impacted areas.
Mr Ikupu stated that Mr Aihi’s response is totally uncalled for and his personal attack on the people who are the rightful landowners that this portrays the type of leader he is and his premature actions are evidence of the lack of development in his electorate today.
