A total of K315, 000 in
cheque was presented by Jiwaka Governor Dr William Tongamp to high
schools, elementary schools, a health centre and an aid post in Wurup
Kaip in the Anglimp LLG in Jiwaka Province.
The cheque was presented
during the official launching of Kuna AOG high school that was
witnessed by the Jiwaka Governor and his delegates.
Education was the
priority that the governor is focusing on and his biggest challenge was
to stop the increasing number of students who have not received an offer
to further their studies in a secondary school.
Tongamp said each Local
Level Government must have a secondary school to cater for their own
students instead of walking long distances to attend to a nearby school.
His vision is to have more than 2000 intakes in secondary schools at the end of this year.
The governor is on a
great mission to build double classrooms for 320 elementary schools in
Jiwaka under the Community Provincial Government Partnership project and
he is slowly addressing each LLG one at a time.
Wurup Kaip has seven
elementary schools and he expects to see more classrooms being built at
the end of the year with roofing irons that will be provided.
Tongamp advised the general public especially the students to be in the classroom to see change in their community.
He urge the parents to
work in partnership with the government by making family planning as the
increase in population is another burden for the education sector.
