THE PNG Party is confident of forming government after the general election, says leader Belden Namah.
He made the bold prediction during the opening of the party’s first provincial office in Lae on Saturday.
He also promised an office and vehicle in every province.
Namah said the provincial set-up at 14-Mile outside Lae indicated the party’s commitment to Lae as the second largest city in the country - and the Morobe province.
Sir Mekere Moratuta and Wake Goi are the founding party MPs. It has 25 MPs in its camp and expects smaller parties to join it.
Sir Mekere handed over the party leadership to Namah after he joined it from the National Alliance.
“Without people, leaders will not be MPs,’’ he said.
He promised that provincial electoral offices for the party would be established and given a vehicle plus two full-time staff.
They aim to “change the course of PNG” with one of their objectives – to enable Papua New Guineans to do businesses.
Namah was accompanied by his deputies Sam Basil and Jamie Maxtone-Graham.
“We do not believe in having too many leaders in the party caucas nor in regionalism,’’ he said.
“We are Papua New Guineans and must stand and fight as one.”
Party offices in the highlands will be launched next week, followed by New Guinea Islands and other provinces.
